Victoria Villarruel’s great answers and Javier Milei’s guaranteed success in the Presidential Debate

This Wednesday night, the debate of the vice president candidates took place in TN. With “e”, no “vice-president”. It is that, Victoria Villarruel, the only woman who aspires to the position, is not interested in the use of inclusive language and has already announced that, if elected together with Javier Milei, she wants to be called “vice president.”

It was she, dressed casually in jeans and a shirt with a white bag, the winner of yesterday’s day. Although everyone was about her, she responded with solvency, communicated calmly, without fury and left the debate without goals against. According to the opinion of the public, Milei’s running mate was the best, with 49%, which translates into more than 209,000 votes. In the TN survey, the second place went to Luis Petri (26%), the third Agustín Rossi (18%), the fourth Florencio Randazzo (4%) and the last the leftist Nicolás del Caño, with 3%.

As was predictable, Villarruel was the recipient of several of the direct attacks of the rivals, but she knew how to respond to concerns with total comfort, despite being the least experienced in candidate debates. In the moments of unilateral exposure he knew how to stitch his ideas neatly, make his points clear and even in more than one segment he had a few seconds left, while the rest of the candidates listened to the chicharra in the middle of his alocutions.

Luis Petri, Patricia Bullrich’s running mate in Juntos por el Cambio, was also calm and orderly, but he could not take advantage of Villarruel, with whom he needs to discount points. It should be noted that many surveys indicate that JxC is already third and would be out of a second round. He had a moderate and correct performance, but this is not good news for the one who runs behind. These opportunities are the last rounds for boxers who have been losing the fight by several points and who play all or nothing at knock out.

The official Agustín Rossi was one of the weakest of the day. Despite having experience, since he was a candidate several times, he was hesitant, nervous and with poor time management. His silver bullets, which were the shots at Villarruel, did not have the desired effect. For example, when she asked her if she had met with Jorge Rafael Videla, she acknowledged that she did, but that she had also done so with several of the guerrillas, since she gathered information for her book. Logically, Milei’s partner rebuked him that he asked him about a meeting, but not about the others.

Florencio Randazzo chose not to confront any of his rivals harshly. It is that, the candidate of Peronism of Córdoba knows that they will not reach the Presidency and that the strategy is different: to quote the actions of the parliamentary bench that the next president will need to approve his laws.

Finally, Nicolás del Caño spoke to his audience. It did not seem to be the smartest thing, since it was limited to the traditional hard left vote, quite far from the general public in the framework of a presidential campaign.

In this way, Victoria Villarruel takes another step in the right direction for the final goal: to win the presidential elections with Javier Milei, which could happen in the first round. The libertarian candidate will have two debates with his rivals in the coming days. If there is a ballot, there will be a final debate with the two finalist candidates.
