The brainchild of Sidney Sheldon, Hart to Hart was a gripping blend of mystery and sophistication, with each episode revolving around the child-free Harts – self-made millionaire Jonathan, portrayed by Robert Wagner, and freelance writer Jennifer, played by Stefanie Powers – as they embarked on thrilling crime-solving adventures.

The show boasted a star-studded lineup of guest appearances, with celebrities such as Ray Milland, Eve Arden, Tommy Lasorda, Tippi Hedren and Julie Newmar making memorable contributions to the series.

Following the success of the TV show, Hart To Hart spawned several spin-off movies, further extending the legacy of the crime-solving duo in feature-length adventures.

Off screen investigations

In the last four years of filming the show, Wagner was mourning the death of Hollywood starlet Natalie Wood, whom he was married from 1957 to 1962 and again from 1972 until her death.

Wood, who starred in 1961’s West Side Story, died tragically at 43 in a boating accident off the coast of

The death of the former child actor led to speculation surrounding Wagner’s involvement, and although he was never arrested, he remained a “person of interest” in the case without conclusive evidence.

Originally ruled as an accidental drowning by the coroner, the case was reopened in 2011 and “drowning and other undetermined factors” were listed as her cause of death.

In 2022, Wagner, who was long considered a person of interest in the case, was officially cleared, bringing an end to years of speculation surrounding his involvement in the events leading to the demise of the Rebel Without a Cause star.

Natasha Gregson Wagner – Wood’s biological daughter who was adopted by Wagner –passionately defended her father throughout the prolonged scrutiny.

In her 2020 book, “More Than Love, An Intimate Portrait of My Mother, Natalie Wood,” Natasha, 53, reflects on the unwavering support for her father. She writes that no one in the family questioned his love for her mother, or his genuine despair at her tragic passing.

Maintaining his love for his late wife, The Pink Panther star frequently shares tributes in her honor.

In December, Wagner posted a photo from his wedding to the Miracle on 34th Street star, expressing his eternal love for her.

He writes, “66 years ago on December 28th, 1957, Natalie was my girl and now she was my wife. Happy Anniversary, Nat. More than love.”

Birthday celebrations

In 1990, after eight years of courtship, Wagner married Jill St. John, the first American Bond girl from the 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever.

More than three decades later, the star of A Kiss Before Dying celebrated his 94th birthday at a restaurant with friends, and his beautiful wife, now 83, at his side.

The film and television legend appeared effortlessly dapper in black pants and a pale-yellow sweater, complemented by a stylish multi-toned neckerchief and a navy-blue puffy vest with rainbow stripes to combat the chilly night air.

Earlier that day, Powers, 81, thrilled fans with a nostalgic Hart To Hart reunion as she shared a heartwarming photo on Instagram.

The snapshot featured Powers’ TV co-star, the charming Wagner, who, at 94, exuded vitality while seated in an armchair.

The reunion picture captured the enduring bond between the two actors, with Powers positioned behind Wagner, wearing the same outfit as in his dinner photos.

Powers expressed her warm wishes to Wagner, acknowledging his 94th birthday on February 10, and the post was filled with nostalgia and admiration from fans of the beloved Hart to Hart duo.

One fan writes, “You guys are just the cutest. I love the fact that you’re still close friends after all these years.”

A second netizen, pointing out the chemistry the two still share, writes, “Love this Hart to Hart moment and you both still have that chemistry together! Gorgeous photo!”

A third shares, “That’s a Friendship over so many decades. It’s heartwarming seeing. Thank you Miss Powers for sharing this wonderful moment.”

But perhaps the sweetest comment was from the birthday boy.

“Thank you, darling. And thank you for being a part of the dinner celebration,” Wagner writes to his former co-star.

We’re wishing Robert Wagner a year filled with happiness and health!

Ambos matrimonios no tuvieron hijos.
