Austria and South Korea Strengthen Educational Cooperation Through Teacher Exchange

On behalf of Austrian Education, a meaningful international meeting will take place tomorrow at the Gymnasium Hagermüllergasse in Vienna, highlighting the importance of global dialogue and cooperation in education. Together with the Director of the Secondary School, Dr. Robert Baldauf, the school will welcome a delegation of teachers from the POSCO Educational Foundation (POSEF) of South Korea.

This visit is part of an educational exchange project aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas, sharing pedagogical experiences, and gaining deeper insight into different educational systems. The program offers an opportunity to present the Austrian education system, its structure, teaching methodologies, teacher training, and its strong focus on holistic student development.

Founded in 1971, the POSCO Educational Foundation is one of South Korea’s most respected educational institutions. It currently operates twelve schools ranging from kindergarten to upper secondary level, including technical high schools, and serves more than 8,600 students. POSEF is internationally recognized for its comprehensive educational approach, which combines academic excellence with character education, creativity, sciences, arts, sports, and global citizenship.

The project underlying this visit places special emphasis on the role of teachers as mentors, the identification and development of individual student talents, and the creation of inspiring and joyful learning environments. These principles closely align with the educational philosophy of the Gymnasium Hagermüllergasse, making the exchange particularly valuable for both Austrian and Korean educators.

During their stay, the visiting teachers will gain firsthand insights into daily school life at the Gymnasium Hagermüllergasse, participate in institutional presentations, and engage in professional discussions with Austrian colleagues. Topics will include educational innovation, student guidance, inclusion, and preparing young people for the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.

Such initiatives reaffirm the belief that education serves as a bridge between cultures and as a key driver of sustainable development. The exchange between Austria and South Korea not only strengthens international cooperation but also contributes to shaping an open, forward-looking, and human-centered education for the future.
